2018 SPT&S SKEET NEWS(June, 2018)

The 2018 summer skeet-shooting season at the Club will be unusually busy.  Besides our two NSSA-registered skeet competitions, the McPike Memorial(5×50) and the Bald Eagle(5×100) held in April and June respectively, the Club will host the NSSA-sponsored Zone 5 Championships(Aug. 10-12) and the Wisconsin State Skeet Championships.  The Zone 5 Championships rotate between states – this year, its Wisconsin’s turn and our Club has the honor of hosting this prestigious three-day tournament. The competition will accommodate 120 skeet shooters from eight Zone 5 states, including Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Iowa, Nebraska, South Dakota, North Dakota, Minnesota, and our own Wisconsin.  The timing is perfect because our Club will feature all new skeet machines, new fences, skeet shelters, and of course perfect weather!  A special thank you to the Club’s Board of Directors (including Al Lathrop, Gerry Zingg, Tim Thiede, and Gary Wipperfurth) and especially SPT&S members Bruce Ramos and Gary Houldsworthfor all of their help in building new bases for the machines along with setting up the machines and laying out the fields with new crossing and distance stakes for the Club’s renovated skeet fields.

The Scholastic Clay Target program shooters in Wisconsin will be the first to test out our new skeet fields at the Wisconsin State SCTP Skeet Championships, which will be hosted by the Club mid-June (June 16-17).  We need lots of volunteer help to run this two-day competition that will include over 200 youth shooters from around the state.  We can all agree that getting our youth involved in competitive shooting is important – please contact the Club to offer your assistance (

Finally, the Club’s skeet shooters continue to excel and have been recognized by their selection for the Wisconsin Skeet Shooting Association’s All-State team.

Congratulations!  Scores for all skeet shoots here at SPT&S (winter and summer) are located in “RESULTS” on this website.  News about Wisconsin skeet shoots can be found on the WSSA website ( too.
